FAQs

Why should I consider a Fractional CMO? A CMO is a very expensive and important resource. Many smaller organizations need the leadership of a CMO without the price and that's the value of a fractional CMO

You don't appear to have experience in my specific industry. Having worked at an agency for 20+ years, there are not many industries I haven't worked in. That being said, I am highly curious and can get up to speed quickly on specific industries. I'd like to add that more often than not, having an outsider perspective can be beneficial especially when really needing to re-think key marketing initiatives

How does the guarantee work? Great question. After an initial meeting and we decide to work together we will put success benchmarks together that we both agree to and that I guarantee we will meet or beat. The fine details are in the contract.

Why should I hire a fractional CMO vs. an agency? There are many fantastic agencies out there and I work with a few of them. It's not a question of either or but a complement. You can't hire an agency without internal leadership and expect them to perform. Nor expect them to come up with a holistic marketing startegy. Also a marketing leader/Fractional CMO and internal team has only so much expertise and can only do so much. By having internal leadership and a great agency partner, the sky is the limit.

What's with the name Proovingground? When I started my career in Search Engine Marketing, I had an epiphany that you could quickly test all sorts of marketing messages to see which ones worked. Those insights could be used to refine marketing messages across your other marketing channels. I thought it was a great 'proving ground.' Fast forward and I still believe that, but I also believe that we are in a constant testing mode. Things are always changing with algorithms, competitors, offers, and marketing needs to constantly change as well. By staying in a constant state of proovingground.
